Transcribed from item: Taku Glacier, 10/29/33. A view westerly across a small bight into which Taku Glacier discharges. Photo Station is "U.S. Coast & Geodetic Point, Glacier #1" a brass plate so marked and set in the summit of the prominent rock 50' high on the shore of tidewater at the point formed by the shore of Taku Inlet and the bight leading into Taku Glacier. The mountain peak and patch of bare rock near the left base of the ridge provide points from which to judge future movements of the ice front. A photo was taken from this spot in the fall of 1932. (Received from B. F. Heintzleman). Photo taken by Winter & Pond of Juneau.
Cataloger's note: Lloyd Valentine Winter (1866-1945) and Edwin Percy Pond (1872-1943), of the photography company, Winter & Pond, were prominent Alaskan photographers.
